SVP BOOK SALE SUNDAY 22ND OCTOBER

thumbnail image The SVP would like to thank everyone who supported last Sunday's book sale by donating and/or buying books, CDs and DVDs. We raised over £450 towards our work. Our next sale will take place on 22 October - put the date in your diaries!

CATHEDRAL CHRISTMAS FAIR

thumbnail image The Christmas Fair will take place on Sunday, 10 December 2017 and we are already accumulating items for sale. If you are having a clear out over the summer please think of the Cathedral and donate all those unwanted presents, bric-a-brac and CDs. Donations should be brought to Clergy House Reception, clearly marked 'Christmas Fair'. Please no clothes, video tapes or cassette tapes. We are looking for helpers, too. If you want to be involved please get in touch with the Friends on 020 7798 9059.

YOUNG CATHOLIC ADULT WEEKEND AT DOUAI ABBEY

Young Catholic Adults are organizing a weekend at Douai Abbey in Berkshire with Lawrence Lew O.P., and Canon Poucin ICKSP from 20-22 October 2017. You will be able to hear catechetical talks, learn how to sing Gregorian chant, say the Rosary, socialize and have fun. Prices start from £18.50. Book soon as places are limited! CHILDREN’S LITURGY OF THE WORD

thumbnail image This Sunday is the last Children’s Liturgy of the Word for this academic year. We wish all the children and family an enjoyable and safe holiday and take this opportunity to wish adieu to those moving on. We look forward to meeting you all again on Sunday, 24 September. We are recruiting and appeal to anyone in the parish who loves the Gospel and is interested in joining a group of enthusiastic catechists in sharing the Gospel with young people in our parish. PILGRIMAGE TO VENETO, ITALY AUTUMN 2017

thumbnail image A five-day pilgrimage to Veneto, Italy is being organised by Pax Travel from 30 September to 5 October this year. This will be based in the Shrine of Our Lady Queen of Love in Schio and we will also be visiting the convent and shrine of St Josephine Bakhita. The trip will also include a day trip to Padua to the Basilica of St Anthony. The price is £599 which includes most meals. GRAND ORGAN FESTIVAL

thumbnail image This year's Grand Organ Festival will bring another season of stellar performances to the Cathedral, with British and International players performing a wide range of repertoire.

The Festival launches with a concert by James Lancelot of Durham Cathedral, who will play:

JS Bach - Fantasia & Fugue in G minor (BWV 542)
JS Bach - Nun freut euch, lieben Christen g'mein (BWV 734)
Mendelssohn - Sonata No 4 in B flat major (Op. 65)
Alain - Suite pour orgue
Franck - Grande pièce symphonique

Tickets are £12 (£10) and are available on the door. We will also be selling our season tickets, priced at £70 (£60) for all eight concerts. Please note that we accept cash only. The concerts are not suitable for children under the age of 6.

All concerts begin at 7.30pm, and last approx 75 minutes without interval.
