Brothers and Sisters of Jesus

Although not central to the message of this Sunday’s Gospel, the mention of the brothers and sisters of Jesus is a cause for concern to some. The Catechism of the Catholic Church affirms our regard for Mary as the Blessed Virgin: “The deepening of faith in the virginal motherhood led the Church to confess Mary’s real and perpetual virginity even in the act of giving birth to the Son of God made man.” (CCC 499)

We continue to expand the range of product in our gift shop which relates to or echoes the art and architecture of the Cathedral. Recent such editions are glass roundels which replicate in glass images, typically mosaics which can be seen in the Cathedral. The image of Our Lady of Walsingham which adorns the side of the pulpit in the Cathedral is a good example of this.
