Child Protection
It is the policy of this Metropolitan Cathedral
of the Most Precious Blood to protect children and young people from physical,
emotional or sexual abuse and to provide a safe environment for them.
This commitment flows from our belief in the holiness and uniqueness of
every human life, made in the image and likeness of God.
Each child has the right to expect the highest level of care and protection
that we can give. We aim to provide an environment that supports and nurtures
children so that they may be as safe from harm as possible.
While we aim to protect our children and young people from all kinds of
harm, we accept that some element of risk is unavoidable. The Diocesan
Child Protection procedures are intended to minimize those risks.
The Child Protection Procedures are also intended to assist parish workers
and volunteers in identifying ways in which they can safeguard the best
interests of the children and young people in their care, and their own
best interests.
In the Cathedral parish, John Scanlon is our designated person, who monitors
our implementation of the Diocesan Child Protection Procedures.
The Diocesan Child Protection Co-ordinator
is Fr Sean Carroll 020 8566 4077.
The Diocesan Child Protection Officer is Mr Peter Turner
